Liberty Wines adds four Spanish producers to portfolio
Liberty Wines has added wines from Telmo Rodríguez’s Rueda and Toro projects, alongside producers Javi Revert in Valencia and Forjas del Salnés in Rías Baixas.
The Rodríguez additions include Basa, made with Verdejo and Viura, and El Transistor, a Verdejo from bush vines that spends six months fermenting in oak and concrete eggs. Toro wines include Dehesa Gago, made entirely from Tinta de Toro, and Pago La Jara, from ungrafted vines more than 100 years old.
Revert makes small-production wines from old bush vines near his home village of La Font de la Figuera, using local varieties including Arcos. Forjas del Salnés is a Galician Albariño project led by Rodrigo Méndez; its 12 hectares include the 180-year-old Finca Genoveva vineyard.
Liberty portfolio director Lucy Perbellini described the producers as focused on indigenous varieties and site-specific winemaking.
