Haut-Brion cellar auction totals €3.4m in Paris
The highest-priced lots included a barrique of Haut-Brion 2025 paired with a six-person estate experience, which sold for €162,500. The package included a private lunch and dinner and an overnight stay at La Mission Haut-Brion. Its estimate was €100,000 to €200,000.
A five-litre jeroboam of Haut-Brion 1989 also reached €62,500, against a high estimate of €22,000. Sotheby’s said the result set an auction record for the wine in that format. Three bottles of Haut-Brion 1961 brought the same price, while a double magnum of the 1982 sold for €16,250.
The auction, held on 1 October, featured wines from the estate’s cellars spanning 90 years, marking the period since American financier Clarence Dillon bought the property in 1935. Sotheby’s reported total sales of €3.4m, within its estimate range of €2.5m to €3.5m. A lot combining a Linley Console, estate visit and eight wines sold for €125,000, below its €130,000 to €260,000 estimate.
