Haut-Brion Cellar Auction Realizes €3.4 Million in Paris
Château Haut-Brion’s October 1 auction in Paris offered 676 lots drawn from its cellars, spanning vintages from 1935 to 2025. The sale marked 90 years since American financier Clarence Dillon acquired the estate, according to the supplied report. Sotheby’s specialists examined the bottles at the château before their transport.
The auction total of €3.4 million fell within the €2.5 million to €3.5 million estimate range. Some individual lots went considerably higher than their estimates: a five-litre bottle of the 1989 red brought €62,500, while three bottles of the 1961 vintage also sold for that amount. A double magnum of the 1982 achieved €16,250, against a high estimate of €5,000. Twelve bottles of the 1989 white realised €43,750.
Experience-oriented lots also featured. A barrel of the 2025 vintage paired with dining and an overnight stay for six sold for €162,500. A lot combining a Linley console, eight vintages and an estate visit brought €125,000, slightly below its estimate range. The sale results are specific to this auction and do not establish a broader market trend.
