Antinori reports €5m wine theft from Tuscan facility

Marchesi Antinori says thieves took about 30,000 bottles valued at roughly €5 million from its storage facility in Cortona, Tuscany. The theft was discovered on Monday morning, according to Harpers, citing the Financial Times.

The winery said seven masked men disabled the alarm system. The stolen wines include bottles of Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso. Antinori chief executive Renzo Cotarella told the FT the company hopes the wine can be recovered.

The incident follows reported thefts in Italy this year at a Milan restaurant and at Banfi’s Strevi winery in Piedmont, according to Harpers.
